I have a international 656 gas runs grate but it has a bad knock in the timing gears sounds almost like a rod but its not a rod can you help me. firball

| sounds to me like the weights in the governor are hitting the housing.

| If you are sure it is from the front cover, the likely issue is either a chipped or broken tooth in a gear, or a cam drive gear loose on the cam. all of these must be fixed by removing the front cover. (not a pleasant or quick fix.)
It may be possible to see the condition of the gears by removing the governor. Jim
