farmall 460 stuck in gear

I have a farmall 460 that is stuck in 2 gears I
think. low side of the torque is out and I plan to
fix that this winter. had trouble with it sticking
in gear a little bit before and it has stuck in 2
gears before but I could always pull the shifter out
and pop it out of gear, this time I cant get it to
come out at all......any ideas or suggestions would
help a bunch....thank you guys in advance

Jack up a rear wheel to remove 'pressure',pull the TA lever back a couple times ,then leave it back. That should relieve pressure on the gears, allowing you to 'shift'

used to always work to jack it up and it would come right out....doesnt make any difference now and pulling the torque back wont relieve any pressure because the fingers on the pressure plate are bad and wont push it

If the low side is out, the TA is not binding things. If the fingers are worn through the TA clutch it will be in direct drive only. If there is another gear part way or all the way engaged, and it is stuck in a different gear position with the shifter, applying some forward pressure on the drive train (pulling on it with a come along or such might reduce the pressure on one of the gears enough to slide the two rails back to neutral. Other than that it will be necessary to remove the top (platform) to get at the gears well enough to prevent breaking the shifter linkage. Jim

that is correct. pulling t.a. back does nothing. experienced this too much. jacking rear wheel is only way.
