IH 300 u with TA

I have a 300 utility with live PTO and TA. The TA linkage is broken at the pivot rod and condition of TA is unknown and I have very little knowledge of them of other than hearing all the problems they have. My tractor is hard to shift with clutch pedal all the way down, Ta must still have pressure due to linkage broken and missing. If you stop tractor on incline or decline with clutch depressed completely it is almost impossible to shift.

So my question is this, can I split tractor and remove TA parts and have tractor operate as if never had a TA and will the live PTO operate correctly? Or is there a way to put pressure on TA without splitting tractor and still have pto and tractor operate properly.

Thanks, Bob.

I have a 350 high utility that has the TA removed and everything works pretty normal.

I didn"t do it myself, so I can"t tell you the details of doing it, though.

If the tractor is going to be split to """fix""" the TA by removing it, the same effort will replace or repair the TA. They are way valuable for operation. They are not prone to trouble. They can not be shifted slowly or eased into or out of TA. The quick movement of the lever into/out of TA is the key. Also using it often is good to keep it happy. Our 350U is on its third engine rebuild, and original clutch and TA. It was treated with a life of hard work from when I was 7,and it was new.
