340 Hydraulics

Turned the tractor off yesterday for a few minutes and after I started it again the hydraulics would not work. I have had this problem before and usually, by moving leavers back and forth hydraulics would kick in, but not this time. I eventually, loosen/cracked the output line (tractor running), which caused oil to leak out, but the hydraulics kicked in almost immediately. Any thought what my problem is?? Bad valve some were, outlet line blocked?? Thanks for your help.

hopefully you just had some air to bleed out. My 340 hydraulics started acting quirky a couple years ago. I noticed if the rear of the tractor was higher than the front the hydraulics would come to life easier on start up. that was the beginning of the end for my pump. it went out about 3 months later. picked up a used one at a salvage yard and things are much better now.

others with more knowledge of hydraulics may have other thoughts.
