The Dukester 09-29-2012 09:12:03 204.106.241.43 Report to Moderator	Re: H an M grills in reply to doversix, 09-25-2012 19:23:13   Used that equipment many times on the old '41 H my uncle had with the steerable cultivator front gangs on the HM 221 model cultivator that came with that tractor. After cultivating season was over the steering arm (long arm) and carrier bracket (short arm) for the cultivator were removed and hung up in the tractor garage and the grill insert put back in. Then next season we'd again install the cultivator parts and the grill insert was hung up. The H and 221 cultivator was okay but it was a pain getting the front steering arm latched (it unlatched when the cultivators were raised so you could turn the front wheels to make a sharp turn) after you had raised the cultivators on the ends of the field to swing around again for another round and then lowered for the next two rows over. Two oil pan guard things were attatched to each frame side of the tractor to keep the free swinging cultivator gangs from dinging the oil pan too. The '50 H we had later on had the HM-238 cultivators with rigid front gangs so none of this stuff was needed and we never took out the grill insert. It was a much nicer cultivating outfit to use too.
