Need a lesson

Does this Super H have the correct grille or a grill which could be correct? It looks to be original (due to the weathering of the tin), but I thought all Super Hs had a grille with two holes (for a mounted cultivator?) similar to the Super M grille. Also, is that the correct "J" stamp for a Rockford clutch? I have never seen the actual stamp before and this one looks as if it may have been added later in life. Thanks for the input.

Stage 1 had that grill, stage 2 had the wider bigger holes, and different corners on the bolster. It is correct for a stage 1 Jim

rockfor clutch, looks just like letters on my all my tractos. numbers all nice nd neat and letters askew.

Yes it's correct for an early stage 1 SH. I have a late 53 Stage 1 SH with the Stage 2 bolster and grill, pictured.

Second picture shows a 53 stage 2 SH. I've had guys adamantly tell me that stage 2's where only made in 54. They're wrong.

Agreed on the letter stamp. If it was neat and in-line with the numbers i'd suspect it being added/tampered with. Even my 56 and 66 series have the letters not quit square with the numbers.

J was always hand stamped. Sometimes the stamper took time to line it up carefully but most of the time it was quickly stamped and usually crooked.

Your grill is correct fore early Super H. Some late Stage 1's and Stage 2's had the different holes.

Thanks for all the helpful responses guys. I was under the impression all Super Hs had the later-style grille. As for the serial number, I had always just assumed all the suffixes were stamped along with the serial number.
