take your time, take it apart. there is a condenser and a set of points in there. the repair may be as simple as cleaning the points.

if you remove the mag., mark the position of the rotor, so you can put it back correctly.
 
As long as you do not totally disassemble the mag, it is an easy rebuild, there are two little gears in the mag that need to stay in time or be retimed if you take it took far apart. When you take it off tractor, make where and how the rotor was when removing. If you don't the most you can be out is 180 degrees. do NOY remove the part that bolts to tractor, or you could be in deep doo-doo
 
I accidentally took apart the wrong part on my farmall H when I first started tinkering with it. What a booger that was to get timed right for a beginner!! Woof. Just take our word for it an just remove the mag. NOT THE DRIVE!! good luck! Kippster
