I'll try to keep this simple. Neighbor that is a good mechanic offers to help with overhaul on 856 with a D407. Every thing has been going well until we went to bolt the injector back up. Seems that something is causing it to tip down and won't drop into place as it should. Funny thing is we never removed the shaft housing or gear from the front plate, just removed the pump and left every thing else bolted up. Must be missing something. Anyone else ever have this problem? |

| If you did not wire the throttle lever on the pump in the full throttle position it is possible that the governor weights have fallen out of place. Looking in the end of the pump you should see all six weights in place with the two slots on the thrust tube mating into the tabs on the governor arm. If they are out of place you can usually get them back into position with a long screwdriver.
When assembling the pump back on the drive shaft make sure the dimple on end of the slot in the pump mates with the dimple on the drive lug of the shaft. |

| Sounds like the 'tang' on the pump drive is not lined up with the slot inside the pump. That can be lined with a wide screwdriver.NOW,be VERY careful all the timeing marks line up!If they are not,it will not run.Time at 6 degrees BTDC. |
