Im replacing the clutch on the M, the pilot bearing came out no problem but when I went in to pull the throwout bearing it wouldnt let go of the shaft/carrier....is there a clip or do i need to tap it off with a small hammer? I dont want to do any damage to other parts, any help would be appreciated. thanks, anthony

I guess im trying to remove the clutch release bearing, i might have put the wrong term in my original post, thanks guys

Be careful with the hammer. The carrier for the throw-out bearng is aluminum and expensive. There is no clip. I would remove the carrier and bearing together and examine them on the workbench.

Depending on what prompted you to change the clutch, the aluminum carrier may be damaged (out of round) Look for one on e-bay. They are much cheaper.

In my mind they are one in the same. I have always thought that a throw out bearing is a clutch release bearing. I'm guessing there might be corrosion on the aluminum tube that is preventing the throw out bearing carrier from sliding off. Inspect and react.
