Working on a 560D that has just been completley gone through. Engine starts up and runs fine and carries good oil pressure, but the rocker shaft doesn"t seem to be getting any oil. Does anyone have a lubrication diagram? how does the rocker shaft get oil?? If its thorugh a head/rocker shaft bolt how does that bolt hole gets its oil? |

| Larry was right. I pulled the head off last night and once I took the gasket off I saw the hold and it was blocked. I flipped the gasket over and it is now uncovered. Just waiting for the new gasket to arrive Thank you all for the replies |

| If ANY RTV had been used around that supply hole, it could have squeezed into the hole & blocked the oil flow. |

| If the second camshaft bearing is not installed correctly there will no passage to the head. |

| Another possibility is wrong rocker arm support bracket in the spot that delivers oil, have seen that done also. |

| The head gasket is on backwards. The gasket fits both ways but there is ONE SMALL OIL HOLE that lets oil to the top of the head and if on backwards the oil passage is blocked off. Been there myself years ago. All the other holes line up no matter how you put the gasket on, all but that one hole. |

| Cool, thanks Larry. Is there a hole in the head where the oil is supposed to come out or does it travel up the bolt? |

| It's been a few years but I think the oil went up thru one of the rocker arm supports that sits on the head and travels thru the assembley. I have had two D282's, one in a 560 and the other in a 706. I ran into that on my 560, could not get oil to the rocker arm assembley and did not know what happened when I had the head off. Asked a real good IH mechanic and the first thing he told me was that I put the gasket on backwards. Bought a new gaket and he marked that hole, I laied it on the block and it fit both ways and I had the first one on wrong. |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see If it came up through a bolt it would be getting oil unless there was a blockage in the oil galleys. If flipping the head gasket over solves the problem then it's a direct passage from the block to the head and isn't using a hollow bolt.
BIL and his dad had a no oil to the head problem with a 560 they got used from a dealer with a fresh rebuild back in the mid 70's. Seems the dealer had a farm ag mechanics trade school do the rebuild. They delivered a loaner tractor, took the 560 back to the trade school. They reported that a bit of rag had been left in the oil galley when they rodded the galley out.
