Hi guys I have A SMTA that was getting coolant in oil so I parked it for over a year.Today I went to move it so I thought I would drain out the water from bottom of pan.I drained out what appeared to be a couple of gallons. My question is what is your opinion of where I could be leaking that much into crankcase? |

| Don"t like the sound of that!! Seen too many of these get water down the cylinders, usually #3,and then crack the block.Maybe a long shot would be a freeze plug or even a head gasket.Like the guys said,a rain cap is NO sure fire way to keep water out of the engine, water can enter around a muffler seam,or down where the exhaust pipe threads into the manifold, even in rare cases through a burned out hole in the exhaust manifold.Seen them all-let us know just what you find, maybe you will be lucky!!! |

| remove oil pan and put a cardboard under it and you should be able to see yourself where its leaking. may have a crack around or in cyl. bore even between sleeve and bore. or could be crack in head. have rad full with water too. you could even remodel a rad cap for and air chuck and give it about 5lbs. of air, but you should have a regulator for this not to blow up the rad or hoses. |

| Pull the oil pan and look up, if you can rent one from a parts house, pressurize the radiator with a tester. |

That is where I was headed, too. 2 gallons is a lot of water to take on from the radiator.
Was the tractor parked inside a shed for the year? If it was outside was the exhaust covered with something that is NOT A RAINCAP. Those things are junk for outside storage. They are ok if you get caught in the rain. |
