Topic: Farmall A trans. bolts

Something that has boggled me for a while is what are the two bolts on the top of the trans. for? They are located in front of the PTO and behind the trans. cover. Were they used for an implement attachment? Just curious.

| Many things bolted there starting with cultivators Most of the attachments used them braces ,lift levers

| As you suggested, these holes are for mounting implements. Our late friend Hugh Mackay used them to mount an umbrella (see link).
Using one left hand plow and a right hand plow (single bottom) implies the use of a split rockshaft (between the fenders) to raise and lower the plows more or less independently. A set of over center linkages mounted to these holes. There are probably other uses.

| They night have been machining fixture holes. They are often found plugged with cork. If the cork is not there, someone dug or drilled it out. Many have been used for umbrella holders etc. Be careful to not break out the bottom of them if using them the metal will fall into the gears. Jim
