Ok guys how do you remove the one inch square nut from a round hole as pictured. What size socket or whatever do I need to buy or borrow?

1 1/8 or 1 1/4 standard 12 point socket.

That nut needs a square socket to remove it. (or a smoke wrench to burn it off) Jim.

Even better than a 12-point socket (if the nut is really on there) is an 8-point socket. Amazingly, even Sears carries them.

fire wrench if not to cut it off atleast to burn thru the rust and it will come off with ease

It is actually a 1" 8 point socket. Search eBay for "Double Square Sockets". The Snap On number is P432 for a 1/2" drive impact socket. You can get them direct from Snap On or from several other suppliers including Sears.
