The original subject was "Farmall Single Row Cotton Picker Advice".

Ok guys, new year, new problem.

We had the head of our 114A rebuilt and it's working great. Now, the sprockets in the gear box that run the fan have stripped out. We had one of the sprockets custom made a few years ago since it was in such bad shape. The woodruff key had eaten away the slot for the fan pulley.

The custom made sprocket was sought out by my predecessor and in hindsight, we should've had both sprockets made. The original one in the gear box and pretty worn out and chewed the custom made one up.

Any idea of where we could get these parts?

I've called Hlavinka"s equipment in Taft, TX (who also rebuilt the head) and they have a guy that might have the part. But might isn't good enough and we need some parts.

For your search, 114, 114A, 120, and 120A all use the same gear box to widen your search a little.

Thanks! I talked with a guy at Hlavinka's today and he said the same thing but wasn't sure. I'm hoping his guy has the parts we need because we are essentially dead in the water if we can't get the fan working.

I guess if push came to shove we could have both sprockets custom made, but I'd rather find some originals.

On another note, if someone were interested in purchasing an old two row picker from such as a 214(A) or 414, where in the country is the best place to look?

I'm looking for a long term restoration project. I probably wouldn't do paint, but I'd be interested in rebuilding and getting something together that works just to maybe take to field days.
