A couple more covers off the H engine

Well, I was able to get the lifter cover and valve cover off the H tonight. I also cleaned up the oil pump screen. The Red was right when he said he saw some sludge in there.

Let me know if you guys see anything questionable. I'm always open to suggestions.

This and last post looks very typical for a gas engine. I would say a little better than average.

I always pull the pan off first when I drag one home. Last fall got into a 450 LP; the block and parts were squeaky clean, typical of LP, but the pan had gooey crap in the bottom and the pickup screen was very dirty!

That engine definitely has had detergent oil in it. That is not bad at all considering the age. The 1951H I rebuilt in 1999 had sludge around the pushrod box like you would not believe. Oil pump screen isn't bad at all overall. One on a 1946H I still have was almost completely plugged.
