| Well, he was asking $1400 for the tractor. I offered him my H and he said he would take the H and cash. I brought him some pictures and he said my H and $900. I don't think I want it that bad. If anybody does go to Jaeckel Bros in Fort Atkinson, WI. Tell him Scott sent you. Maybe I can at least get some credit for helping him sell it. |

| If it's a true 1941 it should have the McCormick Deering decal on the hood not just the McCormick. |

I didn't read the serial number. I just saw K casting codes and made an assumption. |

| you guys crack me up. where do you buy a tractor for 400.00 sign me up. here in the east scrap is 16.00 per 100 any tractor brings 750.00 plus unless your stealing it. w series tractors are farless than row crops.. I would go with the 1200.00 plus.. use your judgement.. look at the adds here tractors are not 400.00 these guys are living in the days ofthe past.. Hello tractor collecting is a big hobby today.. |

Where are you located? I would be game to burn some diesel to get a better tractor for my money. Ask d282 and his tractor is junk! If you are half close I would give you $400 for your $200 purchase.
I do agree that those deals exist and that 41 H is an example. That is certainly not the norm though.

| it's all in the eyes of the beholder. I passed on an H this winter, Great rubber, after market 3 point and live hydraulics, heat houser, loader and tire chains for 1K. It isn't usable on my farm. Too big for the little work and too small for anything like real work.

| Earl and Luv2wrench are a lot closer to the market around here. You don't get anything for $4-500 (at least here in WI) Maybe on the plains of Canada they are worth that, but you could sell it for more in scrap than $400 around here. There are tires that you will get docked on. Local price was $195 as of 06-01-12.
I am thinking about offering a trade for this lovely machine (minus fenders). I thought it would be fun to have a bite sized version of my WD-9.

| Keep the H and buy the W-4. That way the 9 won't be so lonely! What year is the H and does it run? |

It is a 1941 and it is loose, nonrunning. The shifter was so rotted off that it fell off in my hand. The rails were rusted solid and wouldn't move with a screwdriver. It did come with fenders, dist heat shield, and radiator shutters and linkage. Those are and or will be off before the (possible) trade takes place.
I already have a 43 H that my wifes grandpa bought new. I will NEVER sell that one if I can help it. I really don't have a need for a second H. I just bought the 41 for the fenders to put on the 43. When I got there it had quite a few other parts that I could use so it was a done deal. Let's just say that I paid about the same as the parts I have listed would have cost on their own. I was going to strip the fenders and flip it. My wife talked me into keeping it until I finshed the 43. Might as well ditch the 41 if I can get another cool tractor. |

| If that H is a runner you would be a fool to trade it for that W4. Admittedly I am not much of a fan of the W series so you could almost not even give me one. Your H looks to have good tires and the W4 does not. The H is a little more versatile too. Too each his own but if you really think you need to have a W4 I would look for a runner with decent tires. Even if you pay scrap for it, which is all I would pay, you will have far more in it than it is worth by the time you get it running and get new tires on it. You should be able to by a runner with decent tires for around $2500. |

| | in Nebraska, W tractors are sought after cuz there are a million zillion row crops around. At auction here in the center of the state it would bring 1000.00 to 1200.00 due to the fact is a W series with straight metal. on a good day it would bring 1500 to 1700ish if two guys really wanted it. I wouldn't be afraid to spend the 1200 with the metal value at 750 to 800. Buy it. |

| Well, out here in Australia they cost far more than $500 in far worse condition than this one looks to be. Pretty much no such thing as a W4 out here for under $1500, but I am a long way from where you are.
