Does this filter belong? Gas goes from the tank, to the strainer, to the this filter, then to the carb. Is is correct?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but no, that in-line filter is not original to the tractor, and there really is no need for it IF the fine mesh filtering screen is in place in the top of the sediment bowl, AND the fuel inlet screen in the carburetor is intact.

Had one of those on mine. Had crap in the tank, too. But it would sometimes starve for fuel when getting worked a bit. This last weekend I took the filter out, replaced the screen in the sediment bowl then cut, raked and baled hay and it ever gave me a lick of trouble. I you have the screens in place, it should not be needed.

Take that in line filter off and give it a pitch..you don't need it and it can become clogged and then your out of luck..BTDT..Cmore
