54 SH hydraulic line burst, Follow up

I went to 2 different hydraulic shops today and they can definitely build a new line.

However the female compression fittings, in the transition between hose and steel line, are not the same and would require cutting the ferule off of the steel line and or cutting the line behind the ferule. Both guys looked to see if they could order that specific crimp fitting. It apparently is not standard and is specific to IH Farmall. We also discussed eliminating the steel all together and replacing with hose.

These options would only be a last resort as I want to keep it original.

SO off i go to the CIH dealer and ordered a new line that is correct. I'm glad that the original part is still available BUT the $161.00 price tag seems exorbitant. I have a great relationship with my parts lady and she found the only 1 available in the country.

I've resigned myself to the fact that this is not going to be cheap to do it right.

Someone must make a hose fitting that will work on the steel line nut because I have noticed them on some tractors. Trouble is with the modern fittings installed there is very little rubber left. They don't look the same so if original matters you probably made a good choise.
