Toyota Lights

I know this has nothin to do with Farmalls but....ever question i ever ask on here about My Cubs , As , Super A, Super C , 504..,I got good answers from You Farmall hands. If Yaw"ll can"t answer this maybe You can point Me in the right direction...My Sweethart {widow woman } has a 07 Toyota Avalon . On bright the lights are dimmer than most dimms..She tells Me it has been like this from when She bought the car new. She took it back to the dealership , was told "nothin wrong with the lights" She came away thinkin they didn"t take Her serious...This car is Hell to drive at night . I"ve drove it 160 miles at night , no aproachin vehicles ask for dimm lights....Any ideas , is this common with this model Toyotas ?
Thanks

Lights are getting more and more advanced - but assuming this one doesn't use anything too crazy - the bulb should have two element inside of it - one for low one for high (actually both for high).

I'd just pull the bulb, leave it wired - turn the lights on and try high/low.

Just be careful not to touch the bulb, they get real hot and are sensitive to finger prints.

I'm not an expert on many things, and lightbulbs is one of the many things I'm not an expert on - but that's what I'd do.

If the elements light up as you'd expect them to - I'd bring it to a garage to have the beam adjusted - could be aimed in correctly.

I don't know about Toyota lights, but I do know if there is a bad ground the lights will be dim, might check that out

The bulbs could be half defective, I would try a new bulb on one light and see if makes a difference, could also be a bad ground or light switch.

Hi Bill, just a thought on the lights, is it possible the car was made for the Canadian market and the lights are on Canadian daytime running mode?
I live in Canada and my Buick has daytime running lights that are on about 1/2 brightness and then there is a sensor that detects low sun light levels and then turns the lights on to full power. I hear a relay click when this happens.

Are they aimed correctly? If they are to high they will not light up the road.
Way to easy, if that is it.

My Toyota 4 runner lights are extremely bright so don't think it's a Toyota issue. At dusk point the car at a large building and shine the lights at it from about 50 feet. Do same thing at same time with known car with good lights next to it. This will tell you a lot. It sounds like only the daytime running lights are working.

New car under warranty, you should keep taking it back until the issue is fixed to your satisfaction. If you don't get satisfaction from dealer A, then go to dealer B.

Make them park a new car of the same model side-by-side with this one and shine the lights against a wall.

I'd take a voltmeter and measure at the battery and at the bulb. Should tell you something. I'm thinking you may be stuck on DRL and not getting normal headlight power.

It is true that some places won't take a woman seriously. If you think that is the case, maybe YOU should take it in! If you get treated better than she did, then go up the chain of command and start raising hell till some heads roll!
