Looking for a loader for a 656 Farmall

I have a nice tractor that I'd like to put a good loader on. What are my options? I'd like something that mounts relatively easy and it does not need to be quick attach. A joystick would be a plus, but not mandatory. From your experiences, what would be the best choice? I appreciate all replies!

Depends on how much money you want to spend and how soon you need it.

IH 2000 loader would be "period correct" for the tractor, but it is not easy to mount. It's easier than what came before, but not easy by today's standards.

Problem with a 2000 loader is you need one that came off a similar tractor in order to get the right mounting brackets.

IH 2250 or 2350 would be my first choices. Brackets are somewhat universal, otherwise easy to find/make. They're the mount-o-matic loaders, early quick attach, and easy to install.

You can still get new loaders to fit the tractor from Westendorf and other short line manufacturers.
