can not seem to find what oil filter to use on my farmall m propane tractor . The oil filter is very tall and has a lid (like a can) on the top that can be removed. It is not the typical bell shaped container. Anyone know that element to use?

Thats just an aftermarket one. Take it off and get the original housing then you can get filters easy. Do you need the original set-up.

Don't know why anyone thought it necessary to change from the original, but it sounds like maybe you have a "Frantz" oil filter. Several years ago, quite a few actually, the Frantz company marketed their product as an "add-on" for vehicles that came from the factory WITHOUT oil filters, but they also had some high powered sales people who were able to sell "conversions". The claim was that the Frantz filter was far superior to anything that came from the factory. The replacement filter elements can be purchased at the grocery store, and you've probably already got a few at home. Nothing more than a roll of toilet tissue.
