I have a mid nineties John Deere Gator that has just started acting funny. First, it wouldn't run at all, but that was solved with a carburetor cleaning and some Seafoam. Now it will crank fine and run good at high RPMs, but it won't idle. These pictures are of some gas that I drained out of it (about 2-3 ounces). What is the nasty looking red stuff? First I thought it was rust, but the tank is plastic. Any help will be appreciated!

That is probably some water from condensation, some leftover gunk from gas additives and just plain old settlings like dust etc.

Try mixing a little fuel stabilizer (normally used for storage) it seems to clean things up.
