[b:69d34893aa]I am now the new owner of a 1941 Farmall AV... friend of my mom's had it for sale and thought I might be interested, so he called earlier in the week. Went up this morning and after some thinking, I said ill take it.

Not exactly the prettiest, but tires are in good shape, all match too!, the rims are in excellent shape and she purr's like a kitten, still has 6 volt system on it.[/b:69d34893aa]

I've seen way worse looking than that one. What size tires are on the rear - they look huge for an A. Probably bigger tires being an AV?

Very nice condition ! Looks like you have a little step to get up on it , You'll want it lower than that ,I made my super A's at the half way point ....

This is the first AV I've seen around here (Maryland), thats the main reason I bought it. Rear tires are 11.2x36, which are actually bigger than what AV's came from the factory with. The whole reason for the larger dia tires is to clear vegetable's, hense "AV".

I've got fairly long legs and its still quite a pain to climb onto, esp with not having a drawbar (yet)

Very purty! Like that daddy long legs look of the AV.
Noticed that the steering arm of the steering box may be bent. It does not hurt anything but may result in larger turning radius than normal.
Good luck, Hendrik, with envy :)

(quoted from post at 20:16:14 04/11/12) [b:4d76928db7]Here's a shot of the girls. 51 M, 46 H, 44 BN, and the 41 AV[/b:4d76928db7]

That is the beauty of the AV. It is a high crop that is still shorter than an M.

AVs were pretty popular here on the lower Eastern Shore for vegetable farming. There are still quite a few around. Not as much demand any more since most vegs are grown on plastic.

Like I said i've never seen one around here, seen only 1 or 2 in person at shows, I think they're neat tractors just like my BN.

Started to give it some TLC this morning when I got home from work, drained the oil, no surprises there. Pulled the pan to fix the leaky gasket and figured it would be sludged up but it was very very clean. Even the oil cup for the air cleaner was basically spotless inside. This tractor seems to have been well maintenanced.

Soaked the pan down with Super Clean and sprayed it off. Now just letting its air-dry til I get off work to put her back together. Picked up oil and oil filter + o-ring today so Ill be good to go when I get home.
