Removal of transmission fill plug on 1948 H

I received some very good advise on my other question and so I have another one.
How do I remove the transmission fill plug on my 1948 Farmall H? As you know it is a recessed plug and I was thinking of using a piece of 1 inch steel tubing but there must be a better answer.

The square drive recess in the plug can be filled with a square headed bolt that fits the socket/hole. Weld the bolt to a handle. Jim

Heck,

Take a chisel or center punch and lightly tap it counterclockwise around the top outer circumference.

They usually screw right out.

I use a wrecking bar. I put the straight end diagonally across inside the hole and use the gooseneck as a handle to twist and they pop loose easily. I have also used a crescent wrench on the shank of a cold chisel that fit in the hole.
