I met an older gentleman through my work and after being given some old IH wheel weights by him after he finds out I collect tractors, he informed me he has a WD40. I have never seen one and he basically said I could have it if I wanted. I will be going to see it next week. I don't know the condition except the tractor is in s/e AZ and in the desert. Can anyone tell me if it has value?
Anyone have a photo of one? where will I find the serial number

In the same family as the 10-20;22-36;W30;W40,a WD40 was made in the mid to late '30s.it also carrys the distinction of being the first IH diesel farm tractor. It will have some value as there were not a lot made.It was a big tractor for its day.

I would LOVE to have a WD-40. It is tough to put a price on something that old and rare. I haven't seen a running one sell for 4 figures.

is it a complete tractor , or a parts tractor? serial # is under on the tank support under fuel tank. post a pic of it. rubber or steel wheels?
here is my 1939 wd40.

rustred,

I seem to remember that IHC had a 6 cylinder diesel in the 1930s or 40s. Am I remembering correctly?

Your WD-40 looks very nice. Are those rear wheels original (factory) or were they from something else and changed out?

There weren't a lot of WD-40's made. It was a very big expensive tractor in it's day and diesel was an expensive option over the 6 cylinder gas engine. Any of them is worth restoring or parts vs. scrap.

the gas model, WA40 and WK40 had the 6 cyl. truck engine in it.
the rear rubber is 32" as it came from factory. the right front hub is original also but the left one was broken so i had to use a cut down steel with rubber for now till i find the real cast hub for it.
