Color of implements

Finally getting around to cleaning up SUper A lift arms and such. What is the right color to paint them? I have seen Blue, Black, Red.

Not sure that's an easy answer.

I have the finger trip mechanism for my lift arms - for the dual plows. I know that whole assembly is blue.

If you have the regular lift arms, I'm not so sure.

Please post pictures guys so we can see exactly what implement peices you are all talking about.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the universal mounting frame was IH Red and the tool bars were painted blue. I am not sure about the standards/shanks though.

When i purchased my 53 Super A it still had most of its original paint. Pressure washing the grease and oil crud off revealed the entire tractor was painted red except, as JRSutton noted on his, the dual plow lock and trip mechanism situated next to the seat - which was indeed McCormick Blue. A cleanup of the cultivator tool bars that came with my SA revealed traces of blue while the cultivator shanks were black. Of course, as noted, variations exist.

"Dual Plow Trip Lock Mechanism".....I'm not sure what you guys are talking about here......I have 56 Farmall tractors right now (33 of which are Super A's, 100's, a 130, and several 140's. I have never seen one of these or heard of one. Pictures would be nice.

THANKS!

Here is a photo of the mechanisms copied from the Cub Forum from a recent discussion. It is used for the A-189 plow setup.

The universal lift arms and connecting rods to the rock shafts on the front were red. The rod to the rear was red as was the rear rock shaft. The front and rear tool bars were blue. I do not remember the color of the down rods in the back but I believe they were blue. Front clamps and the middle buster bar were blue. Feet or shanks were black as were most of the wedge clamps. Some wedge clamps were light blue and I have seen orange. Fertilizer and seed hopper frames were blue as were planter frames, swords, and wheels. Specialty items for mounting to the front frames such as single wing peanut plows were blue. Drive chains for planter or fertilizer hoppers could be black, blue, or red but most ofter were mill finish.
