wrist pin wont fit in new bushing in rod

Rebuilding a farmall h new kit came with new bushings for wrist pin, called and asked if they sent the right bushings and they said I would need to hone it out, this is going to be alot of honing, old ones are alittle to sloppy to reuse.
Bushing is a Tico #25998H (on bag)8944X-USA (on bushing) wrist pin will not even slide in bushing before installing bushing in rod, bushing went in rod quite hard but I was ok with that, there is no way a hone is going to cut this much out.
Questioning bushing size.

You will have to ream the bushing to within a couple of thousandths, then hone the bushing to final fit. My book says the wrist pin to bushing clearance needs to be .0007"

Take your connecting rods to your local auto machine shop along with your new bushings. They can determine if they can install them and hone enough clearance for the pin. If they can't use your bushings I'm sure they can get new bushings that will fit. My local machine shop installed new bushings in connecting rods from a Farmall A back in 1975 and installed the pistons. I had them to polish the crankshaft too and I bought my bearings from them. The engine ran like new. Hal

yes , that is machine shop specialty work, unless your a machinest and have all the tools required.

They may have sent you the adaptor bushing that is used with the pistons with small pins. The correct bushing will only need maybe .020 or .030 of honing. The adaptor bushing would be like a 1/16 of an inch or more.

It is pretty common to ream those to fit, take the rods and piston/wrist pins to a machine shop. They will fit them. Keep the pins with the pistons they are in.

get u a brake cyl hone, n a drill press. press out the bushing, and lightly hone the rod. clean, then press the bushing back in. test fit the pin, if she dont fit, lightly hone the bushing till she fits. im betting on the rod is dirty, or out of round, or not bored straight from the factory. use WD40 while honing, u will be fine n save u some cash. been there, done that.

If the brake cylinder hone is a solid straight hone I agree it can be done. if it is the type that has center pivot stones, there is no way to hold cylindricity to .0005 to .0007" accuracy. The bushing hone used at the shop is way serious and has provision to hold the rod square and straight while honeing. Jim

It is difficult enough to get a good fit on the proper machine so don't mess with a brake hone. It will end up bell mouth. I have honed a lot of them on sunnen machines over the years. Tried to teach a quite a few other guys how, they usually just said, you do it. You have to develop that feel. All be it most were never really career mechanics, just working there for year or two and then onto a real way to make a living. Usually farming but not always.
