Casting code again

The s/n plate on this M is missing. The casting codes I could read are 410
6722-DF
2BB
680
730
8260 DC
These do not look like IH casting codes to me because the letter is not there. These are definitely cast into the metal. What do I have here? Thanks.

6722DF is the engine block casting #. Thats a early engine so the engine # won't be to far from what the chassis was if its original to the rest. Engine serial number is located below the front spark plug and just above the cover on the side of the engine. Stamped in a flat raised spot on the casting. Also you should find a engine date code if you follow on toward the front of the engine near the same level you found the 6722DF. Probably ending with the letter K or L.

Look for a flat spot on the block near the #1 plug. Early H's had an engine serial # stamped there. For early ones, these #'s matched the tractor serial #. Don't know abut M's, Dad couldn't afford one in the early 50's, but they might have done the same thing on them. Its worth a look. If there is one on an M, you might have to clean a lot of grease and paint off the flat spot, to get to the #. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I have two Farmall H's one being a late 1951 and the other a later 1952 model. The engine s/n's on both are identical to the chassis s/n's so it appears the s/n match between the engine and chassis was intended for the whole production H run, Hal.
