Can I get to the oil pump shaft to prime the motor with my drill? Do I pop out the soft plug on top of the tach drive or remove the tach drive? And if so how to go about it. Thanks.

Unlike most automotive engines this engines has the oil pump drive gear attached to the oil pump. Even if you were to remove the tach drive to gain access to the top of the pump shaft you would not be able to turn it independently of the engine.

We used a pressure vessel filled with engine oil that used air pressure to prelube an engine pumping oil through the oil gallery. You should have pipe plugs on that engine so you can get into the oil gallery. WE removed a pipe plug and installed a tube to pipe thread fitting. Then used a neophrene hose with a swivel nut that was threaded on the tube fitting. We had a pressure gauge installed and when when the gauge showed oil pressure we made a start. Hal
