HYDRAULIC PRESSURES?

706 SS

New User
Hoping someone could clue me in on how to check and adjust the pressure at the MVC plate on my 1965 706 gas. I'm trying to get it fine tuned and hopefully in the process get a better reaction from the TA, probly a long shot but worth a try? Any comments on clutch/ta linkage might also be helpful, thanks.

Well ya check it on the bottom and as far as turning it up good luck as the relief is pre set and ya really ain't ah going to move it . Now as settings , thats easy . First ya set free travel then ya set the trans brake , then ya set the dump valve and your done . NOW IF you have issues with the T/A then you have other problems and for that i need to know more since i can not check your tractor myself unless you in close driving distance from me .

Oh ya can raise the pressure on lock up with either a new spring kit or adding some shims on the pressure regulator spring . BUT lets not get carried away , last guy that tryed this sent the MCv across the shop and embedded it in the side of his building , somuch fun drilling and tapping to the next size up bolts.

Maybe I was not clear, I think everything is ok, I just wanted to get the tractor TUNED up, get the thing to factory specs. I have read some of your other posts and you can be very helpful. One post refered to an 856, you told him 235-265. I was looking more for this information. Thanks.

On 706's for the most part i set then at around 235-245 when i install a new T/A . I also install at that time a new MCV pump and new spring kit in the MCV , therefore you have to check pressure and trim the pressure reg . spring to set it . When i am doing tis i have already went thru the MCV with new O/Rings and gskt. So when it goes out the door i know that i have done everything i could do to make it wright and not see it again . If you have looked over my old posts then you should know how to do the adjustments with out me going over this again. BUT i will if ya need me to .

I think tractor vet's point is that there is no "tune" to this. It's either right, or something else is broken/worn out.

If it's working, it's right, and there's no point in checking. If it's not working, then you've got MCV problems or the TA is just plain shot.
