was the 1066 hydro a good tractor, what does hydro mean?

They were no more or less reliable than a gear drive. In other words very good. The general thinking is that they are not the best on tillage due to efficiency of the drive. They are great on hay equipment and loader apps where variable speed is important and of advantage.

Dad had a 1066 hydro for quite a few years,put about 7000 hrs on it & never had any hydro trouble.We used to to pull 24' of IH 620 drills,baled with it and it ran a IH 914 pt combine to

n the drills it was hard on fuel,but pretty good for pto work.They told us when I took my HD mechanics that the worst thing for a hydro was dirt or heat.
