60th MTA built.

While I was getting parts for my tractor I decided to look the serial tag on the MTA. This tractor was the 60th built in 1954, really sad that the tractor has become a donor tractor. :( I felt bad removing the lights for my tractor but the Larry Haskin sold the lights to me.

(quoted from post at 02:06:55 02/16/12) What the H#LL did you donate off this collectable ????

Are you "fishing"
here on this sight????

I meant to say it sad to see a low number tractor like that being parted out as a parts tractor. I'm not trying to pi$$ anybody off.

Why not buy the tractor with all its "Z" codes? The tag, which has to be similar to this one, also has value. The early SMTA ID plates were very durable as compared to the later tags and 400-450 tags. Chances are the grill and hood are gone so it would be expensive to restore. Those two items would cost around $800 to replace. There is not much else that wasn't used before or after that model.

I would inquire purchasing the tractor if I had room. Since I have a 12'X28' garage I'm renting andcan't store junk on the property since I live in the city. It's a city ordinance can't have junk on a property. Most of the high dollar parts are still with the tractor, but I didn't look over the condition of the grill.

As long as the hole part is good you can rape a regular grill to make it presentable.

Maybe I will buy it...I better get out there and beat you to it! Did you happen to check out the 9 series tractors?

What tractors he had sitting there were Super M's, few MTA's, M's, 300-450 series, 560, etc. I didn't see any 9's. His son told me they have another yard that's the "skelton yard" tractors pretty well stripped down. You can ask if he'll sell the whole tractor.

(quoted from post at 04:59:43 02/16/12) His website showed a few 9s of each flavor, but you never know. Thanks!

I can't remember if I mentioned he was partners with Johnson at one time. He bought this property back in 2004.

I kind of wondered. When did you find that out? I thought it was too strange to have two junk yards in Miles, IA.

I asked him if he knew Jim, because I said "I didn't realized that there were two salvage yards in Miles." Thats when Larry told me that Jim and himself were selling parts together until sometime around 2004 when Larry purchased his current property. I asked him when we were talking after I was finished getting the valve parts. Larry also told me he has a MTA there which is a TA delete tractor. When you get down there in that neck of the woods have fun checking both yards out.

Ease up, man.

Betcha he had no idea what the serial number was when he headed out there, only that it was a "parts" tractor with the items he needed.

60060 is a low serial but not particularly special.

We went to Miles yesterday but didn't find the tractor...Please contact us to let us know if you found the SM 44536 at Haskins on the highway, or somewhere else. If at Haskins then where in his lot, or where else? This is very important for us.

What is your deal? How do you figure your SM 44536 is the tractor he posted about!?! Super MTA tractors started at 60001. That would make the tractor he saw in Miles 60061. Your SM 44536 isn't 60 from anything, especially this SMTA.

First, where did you get the idea that your "very important" tractor is there?

Second, did you talk to someone at the yard, perhaps ASKING them where the tractor was?

Just so everyone knows the story...

This guy posted on the Red Power forum that he got parts off of Super M s/n: 44536J. Which is the tractor we are looking for.

He also posted in the same post that he found SMTA 60060 (Which is infact the 60th SMTA).

Ive PM'd (private messaged) him 3 times over Red Power asking for his number so we can contact him. He hasnt replyed yet although he has logged in and read them.

Ive posted my contact info in the threads he started, but he has yet to reply.

A friend on Red Power said that he posted over here about the SMTA so I came over here and looked.

I posted in this thread because he said the SMTA an SM were in the same yard and because I am trying to get ahold of him.

We went to Larry Hasken Antique Tractors and Parts in Miles, IA where he said they were yesterday, but we did not find either.. YES, we asked if he new of the one we are looking for and for this guys name but he hadnt seen them. We also went to Jim Johnson's yard but he didnt have it either.

He's either leading us on a wild goose chase or he is holding some info from us. I believe if he is holding the info from us, its definatly not the right thing to do.

If any of you want to contact me:

Wouldn't that make it the 59th?

Thanks for making more sense. You just look like a crazy person when you reply to a post on RPM in every post a guy has on YT about a different tractor. Are you sure he read the PMs? It is pretty easy to miss PMs on RPM. They really hide up there in the corner.

It would be the 60th.

60001 was the first, so its just like counting to 60 on your fingers. 1 is the first and when you get to 60 its the 60th.

And yes I believe he has read them when I send a PM to someone else it says "Not yet read" but these dont say that anymore. It just says the conversation has ended.
