cub not charging

Bought a farmall cub a short time ago, the gen was off of it and some wires were missing ,anyway to make a long story short,I took the gen to a local auto parts had it checked, brushes replaced, tested and its ok now, but , took it home installed on the tractor, forgot to mention has a cut out on it, I,m a little lost as to putting new wires on, the gen is marked , A and F, where do the wires go from there, the amp gauge or switch, in desperate need of some help.

With A cutout system, and a 4 position light switchL
The F terminal on the Gen is hooked to the wire coming from the light switch. It will be attached directly from the part of the light switch that is grounded, not the part that is powering the lights. The field resistor on the switch is in the circuit only in the L position, all other (HDB) are direct to ground. Again do not connect it to the light (powered) terminsld, it will not work.
The A terminal on the gen goes to the Gen (or ARM) terminal on the Cutout. Should be 10ga wire.
From the Bat terminal on the cutout, a 10Ga wire goes to the load side of the amp meter (not the side connected to the starter switch) First step is to polarize using a solid copper wire (tractor off) to jump between the Bat terminal and the Gen terminal. This polarizes the generator. Jim

He forgot but you need a wire from the F term on the gen to the F term on the cutout and make sure the cutout is grounded to the gen and the gen has ground to the frame. The the lite sw also needs to be grounded to the frame . Use an OHM meter it will tell you quick if the componets are grounded.

Thanks Gene, appreciate the information, with all the inf from you two hopefully will get it going today. rthanks again

Gene, with clarification in mind, It was my impression that the F terminal on the Cutout was specifically for those tractors that had no lights. It provided a single charge rate that was adequate for charging the battery, but not with the lights.
It was further my understanding that the F terminal on those cutout relays was ignored on tractors equipped with lights.
I am sure that F terminal is a resistor to ground. It would seem that with both connected, it would be a higher charge rate than needed on L position. Jim
