removing grill screen

I am restoring a 53 Super M and I was going to take the screen out of the grill before I paint and the little hooks I can bend but how do you remove the ushaped clips that appear to be spot welded on?? Thanks

They can be fun as some are even spot welded. I get narrow strips and make new ones sometimes you will need to grind them off.

They're fun, for sure. I couldn't get a couple off of mine, so they're still there. Don't expect to be able to reuse the old screen when you're done.
