Anyone have any sources for a larger Farmall?

I'm looking for something that needs work and reasonably priced.

So far a few have appeared in Kijiji and Craigslist but not exactly what I'm looking for.

There's no secret to finding a tractor. You just have to keep looking everywhere until you find "the one."

oldiron29 - Thanks, I forgot about Tractor House. Checked but nothing at the moment.

Jim - Notta, been watching there for awhile.

mkirsch - Been looking for two years now. Found a real nice one owner 400 not far from home, but the family won't let it go yet.

ya well the thing i dont get is their looking for a tractor then when you stick one in their nose the story is changed.
ohh i might get divorsed if i buy any more!
ohh thats too much!
ohh i just got one!
ohh thats too far away!
ooh thats not quite what i want!
ohh i cant afford it now!
or they just ignore your e-mail!
well if they want to buy a tractor i am sure their is lots to pick from, just bring the check book!
i figure that they want something for nothing and still wouldnt be satisfied. this is not meant for anyone just what i have experienced.

Yea,That is the real "tricky"/"sticky" thing is finding one semi- local to your location.MOST of us cannot afford to travel across the United States to check out a tractor.LET ALONE pick it up 5-6 states away! Like others are saying, just keep looking. You are in the age of information with Craig's list,EBAY,Yesterday's Tractor,Red Power Magazine, and even local listings.I found mine in a local Trader magazine.Took me over a year to find what I wanted.

I am a little spoiled living in Southern Indiana. My favorites seem to be all over the place here! In the last year I casually passed up a 450 with loaded options and a 560 D that had recent rebuild.Biggest deal now though is scrapping steel. The ones I used to see in the fence row are getting less every day.Implements too.

I am finding that more and more the tractors are in the hands of the people who either wanna fix them(like all of us) or they are "diced up" in smaller sections in a dump trailer heading across a set of scales. Same with my old Chevrolet cars.Used to be everywhere. Now people either have them done to keep for themselves,or
they are on trailers heading for the crusher.

That is funny! I just thought about how many "sitting" tractors I used to pass on the way home from work.About 90% of those are gone now. I still see an 880 Oliver, but owner uses it time to time.

I know of a 460 utility that's forsale in northeast MA - about 40 min south of Kittery Me. Craigslist is a good bet for Maine but I haven't had any luck with it in Canada, Country folks magazine's farmer to farmer isn't bad but it's stronger in the NY area. tractor house doesn't really work for me here in the northeast. Most of the dealers just seam to use their own sites or Jd's machine finder.

I am located in NS. I have a Super MD I could consider parting with. I just sold a 300 and have a line on a few other large Farmalls. Perhaps you might want to drop me an email? Best of luck, Sam

Well, I don't have the specifics of what you are looking for but I do have some older Farmalls for sale in Nova Scotia. I have Super M, H, C and SA that I may let go if price is right!

Jason\Ivan - The utilities don't interest me that much right now.

Sam\Robert - Saw that M on Kijiji. Not exactly what I want but I intend to head over next weekend and take a look. I'll be sending both of you an email.

That's true... I looked every day for years in the paper, on the internet, did searches etc. I often drove by a kubota dealership and would always slow down and look in there, even though I knew I'd never be able to afford one of those.

One day I saw an oddball sitting there. An old red 300u with a front end loader. I did a u turn and back to look her over. Went inside and inquired ... didn't belong to them, they were allowing a friend of the owner, who bought a new kubota, to let it sit there and try to sell it. I started it up and drove it around the lot, picked the front end off the ground with the loader etc.

I called the guy up and he came up and I bought it for 300 bucks less than what he was asking for it. I have it in the garage I built for it this summer, and I like it a lot. I rigged up a 7' snow plow that replaces the front end loader bucket and it just works slicker than hoot owl poop.

One time I tried to sell a PowerKing tractor and implements... what a time I had. a parade of doofuses who wanted to get it for nothing... who didn't understand what it was, even though I made it very clear before they got there. Guys say they're comin to look at it so you wait and they don't show up...tried for two months or more. One guy I told to get lost... he told me the engine was no good, wanted to give me half what I wanted for it.

One day a guy came down and walked around it a couple times, and told me he "believed he'd have that tractor", and wrote me a check for the asking price. Asked me if I'd haul it to his place, which I gladly did... no charge.

So, rust red, when you sell the right tractor to the right guy, things will happen fast. Till then you gotta kiss a lotta frogs.

realolman: I really like your comment on selling old iron:
