184 cub loboy

one of the drive belts on the cub is rubbing a brace? and the belt is turned on the pulley. i don't see any apparent way to fix the problem without taking it apart; maybe not then. location is on the right side of tractor, rear of engine. a good picture may be helpful.

I have never had any luck fixing a belt that has rolled. I would just replace it.
It's a little like - Pay me now or pay me later.

Is this the same problem you have? I have a 1979 IH 184 that has done the same thing. It's been sitting in the shed since the summer and needs to be fixed very soon. I don't know how or why it happened; and I really don't know how to fix it. Heck, I'm scared to crank the engine at all thinking it might break the belts or make it worse. Let me know if this is your problem.

When you replace your belts, get them from a Cub Cadet or Case IH dealer. The belts are a special matched pair and hardware store belts won't work or last very long.

very similar. mine has a brace that the belt is rubbing and caused it to turn over. don't see a way to fix. the brace would have to be relocated.???

Here are some more pictures from the distributor side of the engine. The other pictures I posted previously were taken from the carburetor side of the engine. Let me know if this helps, and PLEASE someone out there let us know why this is happening and how to fix/replace them.

SIDE NOTE:

Recently while using the tractor (since it came back from CASE/IH with a new clutch and u-joints installed), I had been hearing a "clicking" or "ticking" noise coming from this same area. Never could pinpoint what was doing it, and now the belts are flipped.

it looks like that your belt is riding on the other. it has came out of the pulley and onto the other. ???

mine is riding on a brace lower on the tractor and i don't see a cure at the moment.

see pic
right hand belt is turned over.
