we had a 1980 1086 that had 155hp from factory. when we asked the mechanic at the time he said the factory accidentally installed a few DT-436 engines in 1980. Has anyone else heard if this??

Hi my Dad bought a 300U in late 1957 and it came with a C-175 same as 350U instead of C-169 that was standard engine for 300U. According to external_link 300U was made between 1955 to 1956 and 350U was made from 1956 to 1958. So Dad's 300U must have been made at end of production. It was all red unlike 350U that was red with white grill and name plate.

Haven't heard that but it can happen. The local Case dealer sold a customer a new 1070 that didn't have any power. After pulling their hair out over it they found out the factory had put a 1175 engine in it only without the turbo. Same cubes but the 1175 engine was designed for a turbocharger. Jim

I was told that IH liked to send out their tractors a little "hotter" than the Nebraska Tests led on.

If you had the tractor with the original engine block in it, you could look on the side of the block and see what engine is installed.

155HP is certainly possible from a DT414. All you need to do is turn up the fuel.
