no reverse in 1086

I just picked up a 1086 as a fixer/upper with no reverse,linkage looks ok.Any ideas what to look for before splitting it apart? Thanx in advance.

You need to look behind the front wheel drive cover on left side, which is of course behind the aux fuel tank if it has one. Probably a broken fork on reverse providing all external linkage is moving the reverse shift lever. Remember, they have a seperate lever on cover operating reverse, not like an 06 series that was all in one lever going through cover.

Pete 23,yeah there is no aux.tank so I can get to cover,if its the shift fork thats broke,the tractor will still need to be split to remove the top cover though right??

No need for a split. The range transmission cover can be removed after removing the seat and shift linkage.

no you just have to remove the seat to gain access to the linkages and range cover
