Value of clevis?

I have what I call a F-20 clevis. Like a twist clevis, but rather than the holes being aligned for a single pin, it is made to bolt to the loop drawbar like an F-20. One side bolts on top and the other under the loop. I have a friend that is restoring a "regular" and I told him I'd give him first chance at it, but we have no idea what it's value is. Maybe someone here can help me out. Thanks in advance for your help.

You have a "friend" that needs that clevis?
And, you are considering what you should charge that "friend". Well, I know what I would change a "friend", but I guess you should charge your "friend" the same amount that your "friend" would charge you.

if i had something simple like a clevis laying around and my friend wanted it for a restoration, id just give it to him

You have a friend that needs something that you have and dont need?GIVE it to him!The goodwill generated will return more to you than a couple dollars will ever do.Besides,if the table was turned he would give to you.Thats what friends do.

I'm blessed with good neighbors. One especially. Neither of us keeps anything like a tally of what each does to help with the other. Neither of us has ever had occasion to think that he other is taking advantage of the way we do things. If anything, we each are more likely to feel we might be falling behind on the balance and go out of our way to do something extra to help the other.

Each of us has the keys to the other's home and garage. Yes, it's a rare thing, if only becasue we know that anything (even -- gasp!! -- a tool) will be returned in timely fashion and in as good or bettter shape than when it left home.

When it comes to supplies (motor oil, a tube of grease, a box of nails or screws, a clevis - - those things we make a point to ask first if we won't be able to replace same day, but we give freely without keeping any close kind of track of it.

(quoted from post at 05:25:35 11/13/11) I bought two of them at the RPRU, this summer, for $20 each.

Yes, I have been to auctions where those clevises sold for more that $20 each. No one is making them any more.

Let's see here....your friend isn't even worth $10-20??? You say you don't need the clevis. Has he ever given anything to you? Has he ever listened to you when you had a problem and you felt better just talking about it? What was that worth?

Why can't the guy see what the clevis is worth? He never said he wouldn't give it to his friend. I have a lot of things that I don't use that I probably shouldn't just give away. An example, live hyd of my SMTA...I don't use them...does that mean I should give them away???

Where do you draw the line on when you should charge a friend? $5, $20, $100, $500???
