Fuel Bowl On H tank

Just a quick question for the group, Is there supposed to be some sort of locking nut on the stem that treads into the fuel tank ? If it's threaded in till it's tight, the outlet port isn't anywhere close to lining up to the fuel line. Also what do you guys use to seal ? Teflon tape, or pipe dope ? Thanks as always !

I'd use the Teflon tape because you can wrap enough to get the port where you want it.
I haven't seen a nut used on any I've seen.

Like everyone is saying .Tapered pipe thread.

I have personally had to take 2 to 3 shots of adding teflon tape to get it to "clock" to the correct position.I make a mark on the tank bottom where the fuel line outlet needs to bewith a Sharpie marker. If it goes past that mark while tightening,I will redo the tape adding another 2 complete wraps and try again.Teflon pipe dope on top of the thread tape helps lubricate the threads for easier turning.(BTW,you do not have to "muscle" it TOO tight.)

I use the white teflon paste comes in a tube and has never leaked i use a small amount on all the gas fittings works excellent.
