H Front Bolster OIl Seal

How do you guys install a new upper bolster oil seal? I can"t quite figure out how to press it up in there exactly level and square and even, not cock-eyed.

Small Hydraulic jack, some blocking and a socket that just fits the inside of the bore. Careful lifting and observation to assure square entry and depth! Jim

I used a continuously threaded rod with the appropriate size nuts and washers. Passed through the seal and the bolster. Slowly tighten until it seats.

I made a "pusher" tool from piece of hickory rake handle. Turned one end a bit less than the seal OD, then turned a step to match the seal ID. Slipped the seal over the the turned end then used a hammer on the opposite end to tap the seal into place.

Note: Even with a new seal in place the steering box on mine still seeped oil when refilled (suspect a slight wear groove in the bolster pivot shaft). I wound up packing the box solid with good chassis grease - no more leaking oil!

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I got it. I made a puller of 3/8" all-thread, a few sockets, some duct tape, washers, and pulled the seal right up into place.
I made my own grease, a mix of 1/2 of wheel-bearing grease, and 1/2 of 80W transmission oil. I whipped it up with a bent-up coat hanger in my electric drill, and blended it into a thick S-L-O-W pouring 'oil'. Seems to flow real well, and not leak out anyplace.
Thanks, I never wouldhave thought of these ideas.
