The Red. I turned the idle mixture screw in until I heard a change then backed it our 1/2 turn. The high speed screw needed to be turned in about 1 1/2 turns before it started to sputter. So now the high speed is set 1 1/4 turns from all the way in. Any thoughts?

Cory the only thing I can think to do is turn the idle screw counterclockwise until it is running rough then turn it in until it smooths out. Did you replace the idle metering jet?

I replaced the idle metering screw. Is that the jet? Could the float setting have any influence on this? Is it possible on such an old tractor to eliminate all smoke? Even when throttling up?

Cory: When you get frustrated enough with your
carb problem, (believe me, I've been there) pack
it up and send it to Denny's Carb Shop, 8620 Casstown-Fletchter Rd., Fletcher, Ohio 45326.
phone: 937 368-2304. I just got a carb back from
them, and it made all the difference. He's not
cheap, but he's good.

The idling jet is the one with the tiny slot in that slender assembly that is threaded on the bottom. Float assembly should look like this with the needle closed.

That's the one that I found was completely plugged. I carefully removed it and pushed the plug out with the proper diameter wire and soaked it in carb cleaner. The carb kit did not have a replacement so I put the old one back in. Can you order just that part? Perhaps in the process of unplugging it, I enlarged the opening?

Sorry. Work is interfering with important Farmall problems! I would suspect that is where the problem lies. Call Ken Updike but I really doubt you can get just that item. 608-455-2411.
