301 Gas Engine

I would find a solid Core (or use the core of the bad engine assuming it is good) and build it with a kit and machining. I would then know exactly what was in it.
If there were trustworthy people with guaranteed engines in the market, (and you trust the install labor will be covered(not likely) I would consider them as well. Jim

If you can't find the proper oversize pistons for your C301 you should be able to bore the block to accept sleeves and pistons for a C291.

In your other post you wrote that your engine was worn out with .010 over pistons. That should put your block at 3.822 plus wear. The C291 has a block bore of 3.8765 - 3.8775. It looks like boring your block another .050 plus and adding a counter bore would allow you to use the C291 sleeves and pistons.
