I found an IH 3-16 311 fast hitch plow.

Will the 350 handle it?

Can a bottom be removed to get it to a 2-16?

We pulled a 3 bottom plow with a 350 on the farm in maryland when I grew up. I'm not sure but I think it was a 3x14". I have a 300 that the farmer said he put on a 3x16" plow when the 450 was busy doing something else. I know that it worked the heck out of the 350 but it did the plowing for years in all types of ground

We ran that same model & size plow on a 450 from about 1960 till 1966. It was all othe 450 wanted in our Ipavav & Sable loams. It would depend on your soil types as to whether your 350 would handle it but unless your on very light soils & don't want to plow very deep I would recomend either a 2x14" or possibly take a bottom off that plow. If your handy with a torch & welder it shouldn't be that difficult of a job.

FWIW, our 450 had over size sleeves & pistons so was turning more than a stock 450. We also ran a dual on the landside, min. 6 weights on the furrow wheel, fluid in the rear tires & a weight stuck out about 2' from the front end. Usually plowed in 3rd TA so we could go to high when plowing in lands or in straight 2nd when plowing around the field so we had the TA for when going got tough & for the corners.

Ranch I worked on in SD in 1964, we pulled that plow with a 450 gas. We had a 350D and would not have attempted to pull it with that tractor. If you have a really strong 350 and really easy soil to plow, yeah maybe.

Yes! you can unbolt a bottomto make 2 bottoms. But to do it right, take all 3 bottoms off and center them on the frame-yes,you will have to drill four 5/8 dia holes through 2 layers of steel, but then you will have a 2bottom plow that will plow 'right' behind your tractor.I have done that to a #314 (3 bottom 2way)and made it into a 2 bottom.

Nice looking 350

I have the same plow that I use on my 350 - to plow the garden. 1st gear with the TA and it still rides a wheelie across the little garden patch. Thats with weights and fluid filled tires. Granted I go as deep as I can get it.

Other than a small patch like that I wouldn't consider using a 3-16 behind a 300/350. The only reason I don't drop a bottem off is my brother has a 656 and uses the same plow behind it on his garden and once in the while to plow his terraces to "touch them up" a bit.

Dad bought a 350 and 3-16 plow just like that new, and it handled it well in our ground, everything from sand to clay & rock. Front end was light and dad would not put weights on front, so it spent half of time in the air , it seems. Later he bought a 3-16 pull type, and said it pulled easier than the mounted. The M he later bought pulled the pull type better tha the 350, but we used it quite few years. Ran in about every gear from low 3rd to low 4th with the plow.
