52 Farmall H Light Switch and Ammeter Box Question

Here's a quick question... I was looking at my grandpa's 52 H and his light switch and ammeter gage panel has the black knob between (I think it's a fuse). How come I never see this version for sale as spares, not that I need one. Everytime I look at Ebay or places like that the one's for sale don't have the fuse.

Anyone know why or when the change happened?

Here's a picture of my grandpa's.

Thanks!

Not sure when it happened, but I have mainly seen them on Supers. If I remember correctly, they started producing the first Super H in '53, so to say your '52 has the fuse seems entirely plausable.

Why don't they have any for sale? I don't know. What are you looking for, exactly?

My 1940 H has that style fuse and cover. That tractor was first sold with no electrical system so it was added when my dad bought it in the early 50's. The whole electrical system is the same as a Super H.

As Delta Red said NAPA has in stock. You can also get through O.E.M Tractor Parts Inc. and Steiner Tractor. com.

Off the top of head I think it was common around 1950 on the covers with fuse.
When starting or lighting attachments started having a regulator instead of a cut out. Since starting and lighting was considered a attachment and several different attachments were used over the years or at the same time its hard to put a definite answer. Also though not to common some attachments post regulators used the early panel.

According to the online parts catalog, the fuse holder was added at serial 340954, the same time they switched to having a voltage regulator etc.(mid 1950).
