240 hydralic lift

The lift on my 240 is stuck in the lift position?
I noticed that it had leaked quite a bit when I was cleaning and painting the tractor any thoughts
would be helpful , the lift has always been real strong. Where do you check and add hyd oil and what kind? thanks judesson

mine has an aftermarket loader so i don"t know where you should check or add on an original model. the type is called hy-tran. i get it at the local napa.

The hydraulic fluid is also the transmission fluid on a 240.

Fill should be on the top of the operator's platform, between your legs.

Drain is on the underside of the tractor, near the back.

Level check plug should be on the left side of the tractor somewhere near the clutch pedal.

You should get an owner's manual that tells you all this stuff. Reprints are available from many places on the internet.

Going to half agree with mkirsh this time. The hydraulic reservoir is separate from the trasnsmission, in the torque tube.

You should get an owner's manual that tells you all this stuff. That way you won't be depending on assorted recollections from us on stuff the manual has pictures of.

Thanks , but I did buy an operators manual for this tractor and it only shows the right side of
the tractor with an indication that the fill is on the left side and to consult a maint manual for the information. just thought someone might know for sure , my experience is that alot of the time information from sites like this is reliable
as long as someone states what they know and not what they think they know thanks judesson
