Hey all
neighbor has a 1456 that was running a silage blower 3 years ago and the hydraulics and pto quit. they pulled it out of the way and this is where it has set since. Around 7000 hours on it and the motor was sort of rebuilt a few years ago. missing a little sheet metal and the seat needs replced, needs rewired and some fuel line fixed. has new tires 18.4x38 tires on it. they dont really want to sell it, but want it fixed for 20 bucks. I was thinking about making them an offer to buy it and fix it myself. I was told I will need a complete clutch overhaul and some shaft repleced, but i have never had one apart. Does that sound resonable? how much to fix? if I offered $3000 would that be to much? I got a picture for you to look at, but I dont know how to upload one on here for you to see. but you can email me if your really need to see it.
Thanks
Shawn

It should be worth that they did not make many about 5500 and they are getting hard to find.Heck you can part them out for more $3000

Sounds like it dumped the IPTO shaft. That entails splitting the tractor. So yer looking at about 700 or so in parts if the throw out bearing shaft/flange is OK. A bit more for that. That's if you do the work. I just did a 1206 and 986 this winter. 1206 was clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, IPTO shaft and seals for the tranny/IPTO and rear engine seal. I spent about 800 for everything. The 986 belongs to a freind. That was all of the above plus the throw out bearing shaft/flange. That ran close to 1K including new IPTO shaft bearings.
