Hey guys...
Getting ready to do a NICE re-do job on my 560, any tips?
I have VERY experienced guys doing the paint work, and prep.

My thoughts: pull off all hoods & fenders (they will be done in paint booth), redo radiator, new starter & generator, new wiring, gauges, seat, lights, emblems, steering wheel, hoses, belts, sealed battery, etc etc.

I really what this to be NICE, tractor is our family machine and every works perfectly. I re-did this tractor back in ag class, 21 hrs ago. :)

Thinking chrome pipe too or maybe get exhaust chromed, thoughts??

what am i missing?

I am doing our 560 and have one more leak to fix before paint. You are on the right path, fix everything mechanical and all leaks as paint is the last thing you want to do.

How about tires? Nothing like scratching up rims after a good paint job....

rear tires are new... going to replace the fronts.

also, what do you guys recommend for "bolt replacement". Meaning, like the hood bolts just put in new ones unpainted? bolts for weights?

THANKS!!

Notice that second rear light, my neighbor had a 460 and his light did not work so i add one to ours... wait when I was like 14yrs old :) some 26 yrs ago.

thanks it's is VERY VERY solid machine. it's got like 2200 hrs on it since i re-do it freshman yr in high school and it's been rebuilt too since. Believe it had like 900 hrs on it before that.

yes I agree with you on new bolts. also going to get new hoses...

I was hoping to get to Red Power Roundup this weekend but not sure now. Im getting married in late Sept and what it there.

Last july my dad died and we had talked before about doing a REAL nice restoration... so it will be nice to do it right. :) no more farm use after this redo.

Nice straight looking old tractor. That air breather has to go though. Kind of sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl. Fix anything you can think of mechanical. Sounds like you have the bases pretty well covered.

Two things come to mind.
!. Pressure wash it first
2. Take plenty of photos "Will help when putting things back together".

Good luck

I believe that breather has a paper air filter in it. Maybe not a bad idea except for the appearance. Your parts book will show the factory ones. They are available on the aftermarket.

thanks for the info...

yep it will be super super clean before we start the tear down, a very experienced sand blaster is going to go at it. After we removed hoods & fenders.

Not super sure what air intake I want yet, funny but i have been used to this one. :) This one does have the paper filter in it.

yes to photos... there will be lots of them. I will create a folder with all the details to share.

anything else??
