starting F20 with belt pully

I am going to attempt to start the F20 with the belt pullys from my H is there anything I need to know other than twisting the belt?

just have some belt dressing handy cause most likely will need it. i use the spray on stuff but even the stick form is good. i have even used pancake syrup on the belt. just make sure the belt is square to both tractors and tight. i find it better with two people one on each tractor. the guy on the drive tractor puts belt in motion while guy on driven tractor puts tractor in gear and holds clutch disengaged till belt is rolling and then eases out the clutch.other wise the belt has tendancy to slip and slids off. but this is with an engine with lots of compression or a diesel. you should make out ok with one person.keep your rpm down as slow as it will run also.
i can start my W30 by hand this way. just put pto in gear and give the belt pully a flip by hand and away she goes.

Just make sure you're turning the pulley on the F20 the right direction. I even start my old Toro mower using my garden tractor. It's a lot easier on my arm. Hal

I started mine by my self using a jd a to turn it. put the f-20 pto in gear and block the clutch petal down, after you get the pully turning the right way, and the belt looks like its gonna stay on, remove the clutch block and slowly ingage the clutch, if all is right it should start almost instantly. after its running kick the pto out.

Be sure to put a twist in the belt! Otherwise, you will be turning the F-20 engine backwards.

They won't start that way -- I know; I tried!

I remember my dad flipping out trying to start a hay baler with a wisconsin engine on it when it was hotter than hen and hay laying around all over... put the old flat belt on it and cranked the hen outta it... it started.
