what's it take to convert fast hitch to 3 point?

If it's for the small point F-H, IH made parts that changed it over, but you do not plug it into the F-H like those shown in the link from Mark. I don't know if they made the similar parts for the large point.

If it is a 2PFH, then it shouldn't be that hard fabricate a conversion. If it is a 1PFH, then there will be much less stability. I think it would be possible, I just don't know how to exactly go about doing it. Also, I believe they made some conversion kits, but I don't know how expensive they are.

(quoted from post at 04:23:57 05/21/11) After I put in the title, I have nothing more to say. :)

Is there something that would bolt onto a drawbar?

For the 2PFH they make a conversion kit. Don't know the cost but there is a small used equipment dealer in our area that can get them.....or at least could 2 years ago.

One thing I found to be a problem is the pivot point of the top link in relation to the pivot point of the hitch. I tried the 2-Pt prongs and anchored the top link directly behind the seat on my 240U. The pivot point for the hitch is far ahead of the top link point behind the seat. It was useless with a dirt scoop because it would radically change the pitch of the scoop while raising an lowering. I believe the adapter frame with the top link on the unit would work better. Some implements such as the dirt scoop may be more of a problem than others.
On a real 3-Pt, the top link and lower arm pivots are in a more vertical plain and the implement moves nearly straight up and down.

we're talking about a 300 u.

thanks folks. for your replies.... I doubt if I'll be able to say what I'm thinking, but I have an idea of what you are talking about re: the pivot points.

I think the pivot point of the arms being directly below the pivot point of the third arm and the third arm link being the same length as the arms the implement should go up and down in the same relative position.

It seems to me that it has to do with the length of the third arm stationary attachment point how the implement raises and lowers... whether it stays level throughout the travel or pitches ford' or aft .... seems to me it would just raise up and down as part of a big arc with the top link connected permanently to the bottom arms....

what difference that would make????

I guess depends on the implement.

On a good day, how much would it cost for a "converter"? Are those e-bay prices about right?

This is what I use on my 300U

There are companies that do nothing but burn (cut) metal. Give them a FH point or a drawing and have them cut as many points as you need. They will look very nice. Attach the new points to your implements.

Or you could go to the Worksaver site and look at the conversion kits.

did you look in the parts for this web site? I got one from here for my 450 and it works for my needs and still get to use my fast hitch. David

I'd like to get a post hole digger.... with the locations of the pivot points and what not, ...do you think that would work ( go up and down plumb(ly?) ) with one of these conversions?

Not the ones I have seen. On the post hole diggers, the long arm of the phd connects directly to the top link connection on the tractor, you do not use a top link at all. On the 3 point conversions like the one on my 240U or shown in Delberts picture, they use a special really short top link because the connection point is a lot farther back. You can not hook the arm of a phd that far back.

I don't know your location in this country but those 2 point fast hitch post hole augers are not very difficult to find if you just watch the ads on this site. I have one for my Super C which is really a very nice unit and works very well. It was made by a company long out of business called Ottawa Manufacturing Company and I see them frequently for sale in various places. They were originally made in Ottawa, Kansas and later after the company was acquired by Comfort Equipment Company in Kansas City they moved production to Holden, Missouri. Hope this helps, Hal.
